Vacation never ends for family living in Pickell Concept House

What would you think of a vacation spot that combined the best of relaxation with enough fun and activity to keep everyone asking for more?

A place where the kids could use up their energy at the adventure zone while the adults enjoy visiting on the cigar patio. A place where the master suite comes with a Zen bath, private balcony and its own kitchen for late-night snacks, while the gym, spa and a great pub with billiards are so close you barely have to leave the resort to find them?

And then consider this: It's your home.

This is reality for the Morelands, who live in a home custom built by Orren Pickell Building Group in Bannockburn, a North Shore community. And you're invited.

Built as the Pickell's group current Concept House, the Morelands are opening it to the public for three weekends beginning this weekend.

It was while visiting a similar Concept House — The Scottish Manor which Pickell opened to the public in 2008 — that the Morelands became convinced that Pickell was the firm to build their dream home.

“We implemented similar design themes from The Scottish Manor, but tailored all elements to suit this family's needs today and in the future,” says Orren Pickell, president and CEO of Orren Pickell Building Group. “The result is a dream home they never want to leave — like the vacation they never want to end. This new home masterfully demonstrates how luxury amenities, once suited solely for a vacation home, are being incorporated into the primary residence.”

The At Home Getaway Concept House has five bedrooms and five full bathrooms and is nestled on more than 2 acres of wooded land in the serene setting of Bannockburn's Tarns of the Moor. The 5,545-square-foot rustic nouveau residence boasts all the amenities of a luxurious retreat with the warmth and comfort of home. Other unique offerings include a sleeping porch for the family's at-home camping trips, an expansive yard for outdoor play and an outdoor kitchen.

Rustic and reused materials matched with sleek and stylish elements result in smashing juxtapositions throughout the home. A formal dining area and handsome library complement the laid back great room and welcoming kitchen, perfect for both intimate family dinners and large gatherings.

One of the Morelands' favorite details is the flow from the kitchen to the patio, which seamlessly connects them to the wooded land surrounding the home. They are also able to connect with the “great outdoors” through the sleeping porch on the second floor, where they've spent many nights playing with the kids and enjoying music which streams from their built-in sound system.

What excites the Morelands most about their new dream home is that it was built to last a lifetime. Even as their kids grow, the home will perfectly suit their needs and will always be an At Home Getaway.
