Stephanie Toral to show works in Adler exhibition series

This past September, the David Adler Music and Arts Center started displaying the works of a different artist every month in its first “Adler Center Exhibition Series.”

This month, Libertyville artist Stephanie Toral’s work takes the spotlight. The center is at 1700 North Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.

Toral discovered her love of art at an early age, spending most of her life drawing, painting and designing. Throughout her career, she has been inspired by many subjects and her creative journey has taken her down many paths: graphic designer, painter and printmaker.

Her preferred mediums are watercolor, copper intaglio etching and painterly monotypes. They are very different disciplines, but they allow her to explore two different aspects of her creative personality.

From portraiture and illustration, to nature-inspired subjects and vintage and travel themed painting and prints, Toral seeks to communicate her impression of the subject on many levels. Often incorporating text, pattern and graphic elements into her work, she is able to express herself in a unique way.

This show chronicles Toral’s creative journey, highlighting collected works from various points in her career, as well as featuring new paintings, etchings and monotypes that demonstrate her desire to fuse painting and printmaking to create pieces expressing her artistic vision.

Her works can be seen at the David Adler Music and Arts Center through Oct. 27.
