Westminster, Elgin Academy send golfers to state

Westminster Christian junior Conner Rejman and Elgin Academy senior Andrew Dykun will represent the Fox Valley area at this weekend’s Class 1A state boys golf finals after shooting qualifying rounds Monday at the Westminster Christian sectional, which was played at Golf Club of Illinois in Algonquin.

Rejman shot an 86 while Dykun carded an 87. The individual cut was 88.

North Shore Country Day, behind a medalist round of 75 from senior Andrew Bedford, won the team championship with a 313, Byron was second at 339 and Freeport Aquin third at 348.

The Class 1A state finals will be Friday and Saturday at Prairie Vista in Bloomington.

Class 2A: Burlington Central sophomore Andrew Sherman shot an 85 and Hampshire junior Geoff Beck an 87 to qualify as individuals out of the Class 2A Belvidere North sectional at Timber Pointe. Ottawa was the team champion and Burlington Central finished sixth with a 365. The Class 2A state meet will be held at Weibring Golf Club at Illinois State University on Friday and Saturday.
