Des Plaines hosts property tax appeal seminar

The Cook County Board of Review will offer its last property tax appeal seminar to appeal 2012 property tax assessments in Maine Township 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Des Plaines City Hall, 1420 Miner St. The hourlong session will educate taxpayers on how to file a successful tax appeal. It includes a presentation by Commissioner Dan Patlak explaining how property taxes are calculated and the appeal procedure of the Board of Review. The board’s staff will answer taxpayers’ questions and concerns. The event is free and open to the public. Residents should bring a copy of their most recent tax bill. Appeal forms may be picked up at the Board of Review office, 118 N. Clark St., Room 601, Chicago, or at the Cook County circuit court, 5600 Old Orchard Road, Skokie. Maine Township is open for appeal until Tuesday, Oct. 16. Appeals may be filed online at cookcountyboardofreview.com.
