Driver hurt in I-88 collision

The driver of a car was transported to the hospital after her vehicle crossed the center median and collided with a semitrailer truck on Interstate 88 near Lisle Friday afternoon, authorities said.

The accident occurred at 12:13 p.m. between Interstate 355 and Route 53 when the eastbound car jumped the barrier and hit the westbound truck, according to Illinois State Trooper Michelle Kistulinec.

The female car driver, whose name was not available, was transported to Edward Hospital in Naperville with unspecified injuries, according to Battalion Chief Jim Bateman of the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District.

A cause of the crash wasn’t immediately known.
