Elgin Boys and Girls Club director resigns

The director of the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin resigned Friday, citing personal reasons, a news release from the club said.

Rose Reinert joined the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin in 2003 as the program manager of the Dundee Avenue Clubhouse, which at the time was held in a small house at the corner of Dundee Avenue and Ann Street. In 2007, Reinert was named executive director of the Elgin program.

The board of directors has formed a management team that will work with Reinert to find a replacement and ensure a smooth transition. Her last day is Oct. 12.

“Rose has played a critical role over the last six years in the success of the club, and we will greatly miss her contribution,” said Josh Campanelli, president of the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin’s board of directors.

Under Reinert, the club completed a $3 million capital campaign and she oversaw the construction of the club’s new clubhouse on Dundee Avenue. Reinert also led the effort to open more school-based sites at Larkin High School, and Kimball and Ellis middle schools.

The club has a membership of more than 1,100 and serves more than 350 children after school everyday.

Prior to her work at the Elgin club, Reinert worked for the Boys and Girls Club of Holland, Mich., and the Boys and Girls Club of La Crosse, Wis.
