Marian ends Benet's 36-game streak

No. 1 Benet's 36-match winning streak came to an end Tuesday night, as Marian Catholic rallied 15-25, 25-23, 25-20 in Chicago Heights. Cara Mattaliano had 17 kills, Brittany Pavich 9 and Nicki Barnes 5 for the Redwings (16-1, 1-1 East Suburban Catholic), who play at Marist Thursday. Hannah Kaminsky set 34 assists and Sheila Doyle had 11 digs.

Glenbard West d. Proviso West:

Megan Wagner had 7 kills and a block, Caleigh Ryan 19 assists, and No. 3 Glenbard West rolled 25-12, 25-8. Amanda Perry and Caroline Jenkins each added 5 kills and a block and Meg DeMaar 8 digs for the Hilltoppers (24-0, 4-0 West Suburban Silver).

Naperville North d. Glenbard North:

Becky Welch had 7 kills and Corinne Gacjak 6 for the No. 12 Huskies, who won 25-19, 25-22 in Naperville. Emily Kwak had 25 assists, Angie Jurek added 5 kills and Colleen Larson 8 digs for Naperville North (12-6, 5-2 DuPage Valley Conference), which snapped a five-match losing streak.

WW South d. Wheaton North:

Kendra Arenkill had 6 kills and 10 digs and Sarah Fiala 10 assists and 7 digs for the Falcons (7-12, 3-4 DVC), who fell 25-21, 18-25, 25-21. Grace Tiesman chipped in 3 kills and 3 blocks, Amanda Mordacq 3 blocks and 2 kills, Maddie Hutchinson 3 kills and 2 blocks, Ali Royer 3 kills and 3 digs and Dana Ogilvie 8 assists, 2 kills and 2 blocks.

Neuqua Valley d. Lake Park:

Brooke Antenen had 8 kills, 12 assists and 6 digs, and the Wildcats won 25-18, 25-19 despite missing Taylor McKeown and Kacie Florek due to injuries. Allie Clarke contributed 5 kills and 11 digs, Brenna Dunckel 3 kills and 3 blocks and Meg Borghesi 9 digs for Neuqua (10-11, 2-1 Upstate Eight Valley).

Fenton d. Elmwood Park:

Nicole Celarek put down 9 kills to go with 5 digs, and the Bison (7-11, 2-4 Metro Suburban Conference) beat Elmwood Park 25-16, 25-17 to surpass last season's win total. Fenton snapped a four-match losing streak, Nicole Susmarski adding 4 kills and Valerie Andrews 6 digs and 2 aces.

Downers Grove North d. Lyons Township:

The surging Trojans won their fourth straight match, rallying 18-25, 25-17, 25-17 behind Katherine Mahlke's 11 kills. Hannah Rogoz and Grace Larson each added 7 kills and Carolyn Nojiri 14 digs for Downers Grove North (8-10, 2-1 West Suburban Silver).

Hinsdale South d. Addison Trail:

Sabrina Muell had 7 kills and 11 digs for the Blazers, but No. 8 Hinsdale South was too tough in a 25-21, 25-14 win. Devin Fruzyna added 15 digs and Christina Capuani 6 digs and 17 assists for Addison Trail (14-9, 1-2 West Suburban Gold).
