Bartlett teens accused of beating man, stealing phone

Two 17-year-old Bartlett residents have been charged for striking a man with a baseball bat and stealing his cellphone in Hanover Park, police said.

Police responding to the area of Newport Boulevard and Oakdale Circle at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday found the 32-year-old victim who had been struck with the baseball bat near the intersection.

The victim was taken to St. Alexis Hospital in Hoffman Estates, where he was treated for minor injuries and released, police said.

Police located the four suspects involved, and the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office approved adult felony charges against the two 17-year-old boys, according to authorities.

Deishaad R. Hamlin, 17, of the 900 block of Valleyview Drive was charged with aggravated battery and robbery, while Leon Gonzalez of the 300 block of Woodhollow Lane was charged with robbery.

Police said a male juvenile and a female juvenile were also involved in the attack. The girl was charged with robbery, and the boy was charged with misdemeanor mob action.
