COD Chamber Orchestra has several openings for fall 2012 semester.

COD Chamber Orchestra Seeks New Members

Now in its tenth season, the orchestra includes both students and community members and is offered as a one-credit course. Group members rehearse weekly, performing under the direction of Dan Pasquale D'Andrea. The group's next rehearsal is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at the McAninch Arts Center at the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

The orchestra has openings in several sections, particularly in strings. Members must register for Music 1141, a one-credit course, to participate. Those interested should call D'Andrea before the Aug. 20 rehearsal at (630) 322-9187.

Chamber orchestra members perform several concerts throughout the year. Additionally, the orchestra hosts guest artists, giving members a chance to play with some of the area's finest musicians.

D'Andrea is music director of several ensembles, including the Senior Suburban Orchestra, COD's Chamber Orchestra, Combined Church Choir of Itasca and Sinfonietta Bel Canto. He has music degrees from DePaul University, the New England Conservatory and Northern Illinois University and is a skilled harpsichordist and bassoonist. D'Andrea served as director of the Salt Creek Sinfonietta for 14 years and currently is principal bassoon with the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra
