Gurnee pair charged with soliciting child

Two Gurnee residents were charged with indecent solicitation of a child after a four-day investigation, the Lake County sheriff’s office said Friday.

Police said Gina M. Cusimano, 25, and Kevin C. Pettitt, 21, both of the 5100 block of Pembrook Court, were charged Thursday in connection with an incident on July 30.

According to police, the mother of a 13-year-old girl said her daughter had been receiving inappropriate text messages from Cusimano, who was an adult acquaintance of the teen, and her boyfriend, Pettitt.

A detective acting as the victim agreed to meet the pair to be picked up and brought to their house to engage in sexual acts, according to the sheriff’s office. According to police, Cusimano was arrested when she arrived at the agreed meeting location and Pettitt was taken into custody at the residence without incident.

Court dates for both were set for Aug. 28.
