Schaumburg police release sketch of man who attacked female jogger

Schaumburg police have released a sketch of the man they suspect in an attack on an 18-year-old Streamwood woman jogging in Schaumburg Thursday night.

The woman said the attack occurred at 9:45 p.m. while she was jogging west on the sidewalk along Schaumburg Road west of Odlum Drive.

The victim told police that a man walking toward her along the sidewalk stepped in front of her, grabbed and tore her clothing and pulled her to the ground. The man tried to pull the woman away from the sidewalk, but she fought him. The man then stopped his attack, took the woman's cellphone and ran away.

The woman ran to a nearby business and called police.

The attacker was described as a Hispanic man, 18 or 19 years old, with short dark hair. He was about 5-foot-10, 150 pounds, and wore a white tank top and navy blue, possibly cargo style, work pants.

Police said the sketch was developed with the assistance of the victim.

Anyone with information or who may have been in the area and seen the offender is asked to call the Schaumburg Police Investigations Division at (847) 882-3534.
