Pediatric Walk-In Hours Debut at Midlakes Health Center in Round Lake Beach

Children needing medical services in the Round Lake area will have more opportunities to obtain them starting August 6 when the Lake County Health Department's Midlakes Health Center, at 224 Clarendon Drive in Round Lake Beach, begins taking walk-in clients during the morning hours.

From 8 a.m. to noon, Mondays through Fridays, the health center will have 12 slots for child patients without appointments. Children may be seen for sick call, well-child visits, or school and sports physical examinations. The state this year is requiring all 6th and 9th graders to have the Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine in order to enroll in school.

The health center is working to meet the needs of a growing pediatric population in the western part of Lake County and is using the Health Department's North Chicago Health Center and the Belvidere Medical Building in Waukegan as models for the open door entry.

Appointments are also available at the Health Department's six community health centers in Waukegan (2), North Chicago, Zion, Highland Park, and Round Lake Beach. Please bring insurance information and shot records. For more information on the Midlakes walk-in hours, please call: (847) 984-5100.
