Ela Theater Company to stage two productions in July

Ela Theater Company will perform “Once On This Island Jr.” at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, July 26-27, and “Little Shop of Horrors” at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 28, and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at the Wauconda Performing Arts Center, 555 N. Main St., Wauconda.

“Little Shop of Horrors” is a charming, tuneful, hilarious and affectionate spoof of 1950s sci-fi movies.

This is the sixth year that Kern and Euker have directed the Ela Theater Company. Auditions were held in April 2012.

In “Once On This Island Jr.,” the part of Ti Moune is played by Kaleigh Heisterkamp and Daniel Beauxhomme is played by Griffin Brown.

“In Little Shop of Horrors,” the role of Seymour is played by Jason Miller, Audrey is played by Meg Grinde and Audrey II (the Plant) is played by Allie Sadler.

More than 100 children and young adults have roles in these productions.

Rehearsals began in early June and all involved have put in countless hours perfecting their performances. Tickets are on sale now to the public. The cost is $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
