Antioch library offers self-defense program for women

The Antioch District Library will be sponsoring an all-day Rape Aggression Defense course for teenage girls ages 14 to 18 on June 19.

Participants are asked to bring a lunch for the course, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The program will be taught by officers of the Antioch Police Department.

The Rape Aggression Defense system is a “comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.” Parental consent is required, and parents must sign in upon arrival.

Interested participants must register in advance at apld.info.
