Grant Township Pageant seeks applicants

The Grant Township Board has announced the Grant Township Pageant to be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 22, at Big Hollow Middle School, 26051 W. Nippersink Road, Ingleside. The pageant program became an addition to the township’s youth programs and organizations in 2006, joining others like GTAAA, baseball, soccer and Grant Jr. Bulldogs and Cheerleading. All are designed to encourage the participation of area youths.

The program crowns a Miss, Teen Miss, Junior Miss and Little Miss Grant Township who serve as ambassadors of the township at county events and play integral roles in the area’s community service endeavors and projects. The 2011 Grant Township Queens — Miss Samantha Murphey, Teen Miss Katie Rehling, Junior Miss Madison Point and Little Miss Lainie Noda — have done an excellent job in fulfilling their duties, according to the board.

Supervisor Kay Starostovic and the Grant Township Board is very excited to be able to offer the opportunity to provide a forum for outstanding young women in the area and looks forward to another year of partnership with the new 2012 Queens. The individual categories are for young women: Little Miss, ages 6-8; Junior Miss, ages 9-12; Teen Miss, ages 13-15; and Miss, ages 16-19.

Any young lady within the age groups who resides within the boundaries of Grant Community High School District is eligible to compete for the titles. Judges are instructed to look for young women who are interested in taking on leadership roles and making a difference using teamwork, responsibility, professionalism and community service. This judging will be done through an interview process, question-and-answer session, grading on poise/presentation and speech recital.

Deadline for applications is 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at the Grant Township Administration Office, 26725 W. Molidor Road, Ingleside. Applications for the June 22 pageant are available at Grant Township Administration Building and at www.granttownshipcenter.org or by calling (847) 740-2233.
