Schaumburg man gets 8 years for delivering cocaine
A Schaumburg man who has already received a six-year prison sentence following his conviction in DuPage County will serve additional time in exchange for his guilty plea to two Cook County charges of delivering a controlled substance.
Richard Loureiro, 37, will serve the six-year DuPage and eight-year Cook sentences concurrently, ruled Cook County Judge Ellen Mandletort at Tuesday’s sentencing hearing during which Loureiro pleaded guilty to two class X felonies which could have kept him in jail for up to 30 years.
Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Mike Gerber said Loureiro met with a confidential informant at a predetermined location in the 800 block of Albion Avenue last June as part of a Schaumburg Police Department undercover narcotics investigation. At that time, Loureiro handed over 27.7 grams of a substance, later determined to be cocaine, in exchange for $1,100. About a week later, Loureiro had another prearranged meeting during which he delivered 27.8 grams of cocaine in exchange for $1,150, Gerber said.
The DuPage charges were also related to delivery of cocaine.
Loureiro received credit for the 360 days he has spent in custody since his arrest. A search of Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court Records indicated Loureiro pleaded guilty to a burglary which was amended to a misdemeanor in 1993. He was sentenced to one-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay restitution, the records show. DuPage County court records indicate he was sentenced to probation in 2007 after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance.
