Motorcycle passenger dies after Geneva crash

A Bolingbrook woman who was a passenger on a motorcycle died after a crash involving the motorcycle and a pickup truck Sunday night in Geneva, according to police.

Initial reports indicated that the motorcycle was headed south on Kirk Road when a pickup truck traveling north on Kirk tried to make a U-turn near Division Street, according to police.

The motorcycle struck the 2002 GMC Sierra, which was driven by a 19-year-old Bartlett man, police said.

Both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle were taken to Delnor Community Hospital after the crash, which occurred just before 6 p.m., according to police.

The 48-year-old woman who was on the back of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the hospital at 7:48 p.m., according to police. Police are withholding the woman’s name pending family notification.

The driver of the 2001 Harley-Davidson was a 50-year-old Bolingbrook man.

The accident is being investigated by the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team and the Geneva Police Department.

The man driving the pickup was treated at the scene and released, according to police.
