Notre Dame concert band to perform at Libertyville High

Tickets are on sale for a University of Notre Dame concert band performance at Libertyville High School.

The band, under the direction of Kenneth Dye, will perform in the school auditorium, 708 W. Park Ave., at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 12. Tickets are $10 and are available at www.lhsmusic.com.

Every spring, the Notre Dame concert band tours a portion of the U.S. Because its student body comes from every state in the union, Notre Dame tries to reach out to communities that might not have the opportunity to travel to South Bend, Ind., for a home concert.

This year, the band is performing in Illinois and Wisconsin.

The repertoire runs the spectrum of overtures, marches, soundtracks and theater medleys, and music from the standard band repertoire.

The tour will feature vocal and instrumental soloists. Many of the soloists are Notre Dame music faculty or students from the ensembles.

Stephen Lancaster of the Notre Dame music faculty will sing classic and pop tunes, and the Notre Dame New Orleans Brass Band will perform with the concert band.
