Downers North tops Glenbard West

Downers North pitcher David Wilk struck out six batters, allowed 5 hits and went all 8 innings to defeat the host Hilltoppers in West Suburban Silver play. He threw 66 of his 107 pitches for strikes, and at the plate Wilk batted cleanup and went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Glenbard West starting pitcher Tyler Curtis matched Wilk for 6 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits while striking out five.

St. Francis 8, St. Edward 7:

Lifting St. Francis to the Suburban Christian Conference victory, Jack Petrando went 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and Tom Ameche went 2-for-4 and drove in 4 runs. Pitcher Eric Bacon improved to 6-2 with 4 innings of work for the Spartans (13-10, 7-5).

Lisle 5, Herscher 3:

Though Herscher racked up 12 hits, Lisle (24-4, 10-0) remained unbeaten in the Interstate Eight. Jared Jayne improved to 5-0 on the mound and went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI at the plate.

Fenton 17, Maine East 7:

The Bison (11-10) smashed 14 hits in only 5 innings of play in the nonconference game in Park Ridge. Fenton's Joe Butz, Roman Castellanos, Jeremy Shimanek, Alex Cowan and pitcher Rigo Trujillo all labeled doubles and Colin Wallace a triple. Butz finished with 5 RBI, Wallace and Shimanek 3 apiece.
