Mt. Prospect man charged with heroin possession

A 21-year-old man treated for a heroin overdose in January appeared before a judge Saturday morning on a single charge for heroin possession.

Bail was set at $5,000 for Christopher Tryba, who faces one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance stemming from the Jan. 26 incident. Tryba will need to post $500 to get out of jail while his case moves through the courts.

Paramedics found Tryba lying unresponsive but breathing on a living room floor in a residence in the 1900 block of West Algonquin Road and rushed him to an area hospital, prosecutors said. Authorities later found a prescription bottle in his pants pocket that contained seven bags of heroin measuring 1.02 grams, prosecutors said.

Tryba admitted that the heroin was his and that he’d snorted two lines of the drug before he lost consciousness, and that he’d bought the drug the day before, prosecutors said.

His next court date is April 5 at Rolling Meadows.
