Lake Villa arsonist caught on camera

A man who apparently set a Lake Villa home ablaze Friday night was caught on the homes security camera system using a possible accelerant and road flare to start the fire, authorities said Saturday. Lake Villa police are pursuing leads they hope will bring them to the suspect, a white man in his late teens or twenties wearing a black hooded sweatshirt or jacket, police Chief Ron Roth said. Winfield leaders find it hard to bury the hatchet

Several months after trustees on Winfield's divided village board reached an uneasy truce, the gloves are off again. At one level, Village President Deborah Birutis and Trustee Tim Allen engaged in a bitter email exchange. Marino's coming to Lake Zurich

A Mariano's Fresh Market grocery store is proposed for Route 22 and Quentin Road and could add between 200 and 250 jobs to the Lake Zurich area, village officials said Friday. Inverness Catholic school wins prestigious honor

Holy Family Catholic Academy in Inverness is one of two schools in the nation to receive the prestigious 2012 Catholic Schools for Tomorrow Award for innovation in curriculum and instruction. It's the first Catholic school in Northwest suburban Cook County to receive the award; Carmel Catholic High School in Mundelein received the award in 2006. Full story.
