Hunt for Kane County auditor

The position of county auditor is not one likely to capture the public imagination or stir deep-seated political passions, but that shouldn’t diminish the importance of the office. Monitoring the county’s spending and providing expert analysis is a critical function, and two candidates particularly stand out in the Kane County Republican primary. Laura Wallett, of South Elgin, has an accounting background and experience in big business, and Terry Hunt, a Big Rock village trustee, has experience in public service as well as business, along with accounting training. They and fellow candidate Karl Regnier, a sheriff’s officer from North Aurora, all emphasize the importance of independence and integrity for this job. We favor Hunt as the more well-rounded candidate who is best positioned to work effectively with the Kane County Board and other officials.
