Judge sentences Geneva man to 4 months in jail, probation

A Geneva man and former Addison village official pleaded guilty this week to child pornography possession.

Gary Reschke, 57, must serve 120 days in jail and then three years probation, pay a $4,340 fine, and register as a sex offender, according to court records.

Reschke was arrested June 14, 2011, after police executed a search warrant at his home in the 3100 block of Larabee Drive and seized his computer. He was charged with 12 felony counts of child pornography possession.

Under the agreement OK'd Thursday by Kane County Judge Allen Anderson, the remaining charges were dropped in exchange for a guilty plea to one felony charge of aggravated child pornography possession.

If Reschke violates his probation, he could be brought back to court and sentenced to prison for up to seven years. He did not have a previous criminal history before his arrest.

Reschke had served as the assistant director of community development for the village of Addison for the last 12 years, according to Addison spokeswoman Doree Krage.

After his arrest, Reschke was placed on paid administrative leave from his $101,275-a-year post. He resigned shortly after that, Krage said.

Village officials conducted their own investigation and found no evidence that Reschke used village computers improperly.

A phone message for Reschke's defense attorney Jason Majer was not immediately returned.

Reschke had been free after posting $15,000 bond while his case was pending.
