Griffin Shirey funeral:

Visitation and a memorial service are Saturday, Jan. 28 for 10-year-old Griffin Shirey of Island Lake who was killed in an automobile accident on Dec. 12, 2011 on Route 12 near Lake Zurich. His twin brother, Nicholas Shirey and his father, Scott P. Shirey, were injured in that accident. Visitation is 10 a.m. until the memorial service at noon at St. John Lutheran Church, 405 W. State Road, Island Lake. For information, contact Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, McHenry, (815) 385-2400. Friends may send online condolences to the family at www.justenfh.com. The accident is under investigation and no charges have been filed. The Lincoln sedan carrying the Shireys was struck by a pickup truck carrying roofing materials. The car was hit while making a left turn from southbound Route 12 onto Old McHenry Road at 5:41 p.m.
