Churches join Arlington Heights 125th anniversary celebration

This coming Wednesday, Jan. 18, will mark the exact 125th anniversary of the date Arlington Heights was incorporated under that name.

To celebrate the occasion, at least six local churches will ring their bells and play their carillons, fitting given the importance local churches have played in the community’s history.

Churches participating are First United Methodist, First Presbyterian, Saint Peter’s Lutheran, Saint John United Church of Christ, Faith Lutheran and Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic.

First United Methodist (1838), First Presbyterian (1855) and St Peter’s Lutheran (1860) all share the distinction of having been founded before Arlington Heights was incorporated on Jan. 18, 1887.

The village will celebrate its 125h anniversary with special events throughout the year.
