Arlington Hts. commission approves plans for old hotel

The Arlington Heights Design Commission has approved plans for Arlington Downs, the apartments, hotels and shops that will be built on the site of the shuttered Sheraton Chicago Northwest.

The project will go to the Plan Commission in January and then to the Arlington Heights Village Board.

Developers plan to turn the hotel, which closed late in 2009, into luxury apartments. They also propose building two separate hotels, one for families that will be connected to the CoCo Key water park; another apartment building; and retail shops on the site at Euclid and Rohlwing roads.
