Recorder’s office files vets’ paperwork

Nov. 11 is Veteran’s Day, a holiday to honor all who have served in the United States military services.

As Lake County recorder, I would like to take this opportunity to remind all of our veterans and their families that my office is the keeper of your military paperwork. These certified papers entitle you and your family to many significant benefits for years to come.

Please take a moment to look through your important paperwork.

Check to be sure you have more than one copy of your military discharge papers (commonly known as DD214’s). For those veterans who have already recorded your DD214’s, if you need additional copies, please call the recorder’s office and your order will be processed immediately and at no charge. If you recently served in the military and are now home, be sure to record your military discharge papers in our office, again at no charge.

These papers will be safely kept on file and retrievable whenever you may need them. If you or a family member need any help with your DD214’s, please do not hesitate to call.
