Mundelein businesses honored with gold star awards

Five Mundelein businesses have been awarded gold star business awards from the town’s economic development commission.

The winners are: Medline; McDonald’s of Mundelein; the Lake County Health, Pain and Rehabilitation Center; the Caboose Restaurant; and Debbie’s Floral.

The program was created by the commission to recognize Mundelein businesses that make significant aesthetic improvements to their property, receive a major industry award, or contribute to the village in an exemplary manner.

“The purpose of the gold star is to highlight the outstanding accomplishments of local businesses,” economic development Chairman Mike Hamilton explained. “We have so many excellent businesses that contribute to the economic and cultural fabric of our community, it is important that we draw attention to their successes.”

The awards were presented at an Oct. 24 village board meeting.

“Each of the businesses has made extensive improvements to their facilities by expanding, remodeling, or rehabilitating an existing building,” said Assistant Village Administrator Michael Flynn, the staff liaison to the economic development commission.
