Justice Scalia talks politics, high court, pizza

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia says the only political thing about the nation’s highest court is the selection process. That’s even though the court — five Republican-appointed and four Democrat-appointed judges— ruled along political lines in high-profile cases last term involving campaign finance rules and limits on class-action lawsuits.

Scalia spoke Tuesday to students at Chicago-Kent College of Law. Scalia says once you’re on the high court, politics don’t matter.

He also weighed in on other issues some Chicagoans might argue are equally as important.

Deep dish or thin crust pizza? White Sox or Cubs?

Scalia says deep dish is tasty, but it should be called a tomato pie, not pizza.

And to the second question, which drew some boos from the audience, he said he’s a Yankees fan.
