Flight 191 memorial dedication ceremony details
The American Airlines Flight 191 Memorial at Lake Park in Des Plaines will be dedicated in a ceremony that begins at 11 a.m. Saturday. Parking will be available in the Abbot Molecular parking lot on Lee Street. Handicapped parking is available in the Des Plaines Park District’s Lake Park maintenance building parking lot. The memorial is located at the Northwest corner of Touhy Avenue and Lee Street. The serpentine-shaped stone memorial wall is made of individually-engraved interlocking bricks, one for each of the 273 crash victims. The memorial includes an engraved brass plaque and a red maple tree planted in a flower bed behind the wall.
