Zonta District 6 Fall Conference to Convene in Lisle

Zonta International is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. Headquartered in Oakbrook, IL, Zonta International (www.zonta.org) was founded in 1919 in Buffalo, NY; currently there are over 27,000 Zonta members in over 60 countries and geographical areas.

District 6, representing Zonta clubs in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, is just one of the 32 districts that make up the international membership and is overseen by its own elected Governor and Board. The Fall Conference entitled, “Leading Across Generations” and sponsored in part by Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, will feature a keynote address on community response to prostitution to be presented by Lynne Johnson, VP Advocacy at the Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation (CAASE). Zonta members will elect District officers for 2012-2014 and attend educational sessions centered on fund raising and service/advocacy. Business sessions are followed by dinners and hospitality.

A special guest in attendance will be the International Director, Maria Jose Landeira Oestergaard, who serves as the liaison for District 6 to the International Board. Ms Oestergaard, a member of the Zonta Club of Copenhagen, works as an engineer in the field of corrosive materials and effects and is involved in several professional groups in Denmark.
