Record golf outing turnout helps Inverness agency raise $30,000

Thanks to some charitable and talented golfers, the Society for the Preservation of Human Dignity now has an additional $30,000 in its coffers to provide pregnancy help and education.

The Inverness nonprofit agency raised at least that much at its 7th Annual Golf Outing, which drew a record 116 golfers.

“We were thrilled at the number of golfers that participated in this year’s outing,” said Liz Noe, PHD director of Major Events. “It is more than we’ve had in the past and we’re so pleased to see the growth of this event.”

The July 13 event took place at Makray Memorial Golf Course in Barrington to benefit PHD, which this year is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

The outing included a Beat the Pro and putting contest, a chance to win $10,000 in a Hole-in-One contest sponsored by Palatine Bank & Trust (nobody pulled off the feat), raffle, dinner and awards.

One of PHD’s next big events is Bikers Against Bullies, which features a 90-plus mile motorcycle ride through northern Illinois’ back roads. The Sunday, Sept. 18 ride promotes bully prevention and character development for youth.
