It’s Military Day at Arlington Park Saturday

Arlington Park racetrack will host Military Appreciation Day on Saturday, July 23, at the track, 2200 W. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights.

Thirty-four Medal of Honor recipients will be recognized after the sixth race (post time 3:35).

The Black Daggers and the 101st Airborne Division’s Screaming Eagles will do a parachute team demonstration.

The national anthem will be performed by the 85th Army Band, with the Marine Air Control Group 48 Color Guard, renowned tenor Steve Amerson and the Shannon Rovers bagpipe band.

A special flyby with a B-29 Superfortress and P-51 Mustang will occur after the fourth race (post time 2:33 p.m.).

As well, there will be aerial and ground displays and demonstrations, a display of antique military equipment and interactive Army activities.

Current members of the armed services and veterans receive free general admission with a valid military ID. Gates open at 11:15 a.m.; first post is 1 p.m.
