Little damage in Addison warehouse fire

A machine malfunction in an Addison warehouse produced a lot of smoke and drew firefighters from about a dozen departments Saturday afternoon, but did little damage.

Addison firefighters responded at 1:15 p.m. to T/J Fabricators, 2150 Executive Drive, but didn't find any flames.

β€œIt came in as an activated alarm. They had a lot of smoke inside,” Lt. Michael Toika said.

Crews ventilated the roof and then found a small fire in a dust collector machine in the middle of the building, Toika said.

No one was in the building at the time and no injuries were reported.

Toika said Addison called in other departments β€” including Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Elmhurst, Hanover Park, Itasca, Lombard, Roselle, Wood Dale and York Center β€” because of the heat. Many trucks remained parked in a staging area on Swift Road just south of Army Trail Road until they were dismissed as crews left the scene just after 3 p.m.

T/J Fabricators is expected to open as usual after the holiday weekend.
