Truck hits train in Itasca

ABC 7 is reporting that two people were injured after their pickup truck collided with a train shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Irving Park and Rohlwing roads in Itasca.

A Metra spokeswoman said Sunday that Metra police officers assisted in the response to the crash. Metra police indicated that the truck hit a Canadian Pacific Railroad freight train and that one of the two people injured was cited for driving under the influence, the spokeswoman said.

Additional information about the crash was not available Sunday afternoon from either the Itasca Police Department or the Itasca Fire Protection District.
