Seven-car crash in Vernon Hills

Police are investigating the cause of a seven-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon near Route 60 and Milwaukee Avenue in Vernon Hills.

The accident occurred at about 2 p.m., said Vernon Hills Police Sgt. Jim Levicki.

While the cause of the crash is still unclear, Levicki said a minivan was hit by another vehicle, causing it to roll over. Two adults and two children were in the minivan at the time of the crash, said Countryside Fire Protection Battalion Chief Brian Garrity.

Five people, including all four of the minivan’s passengers, were taken by three ambulances to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with minor injuries, Garrity said. Six others were treated at the scene and released, he said.
