Naperville victim’s brother sought

Police now say the brother of a 59-year-old Naperville woman found dead this week is a “person of interest.”

Mark R. Lewis, 51, of Lakemoor hasn’t been called a suspect in the death of his sister Cathleen, but officials have previously said they were “concerned” because family and friends didn’t hear from him in several days.

On Friday, police said Lewis may have been involved in identity theft and forgery of his mother’s bank account, and they have obtained a warrant for his arrest. Authorities said Lewis was last seen driving a green, 1999 Ford Explorer with a license plate reading 7758696.

The body of Cathleen Lewis was discovered Wednesday night at her townhouse after her mother called police requesting a well-being check. An autopsy conducted Thursday by the Will County coroner’s office showed multiple injuries due to blunt head trauma, which authorities said was caused by an assault.

Police believe Lewis knew her assailant.

Lewis and her mother lived in the townhouse together, but her mother was not home when she called police Wednesday. Police said Lewis’ mother is cooperating with the investigation and isn’t believed to be involved in her death.

Anyone with information is asked to call Naperville police at (630) 420-6147 or Crime Stoppers at (630) 420-6006. Officials have offered a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
