Recapping Bulls-Hawks games

Here’s a look back at the three regular-season games between the Bulls and Atlanta, with the Bulls dropping the first game and winning the next two handily:

March 2 at Philips Arena: Hawks 83, Bulls 80The Bulls owned a 19-point advantage in the second quarter of this one, making it their largest squandered lead of the season. Derrick Rose had a rough night, hitting 5 of 21 shots and finishing with 12 points, 12 assists and 6 turnovers. Atlanta was back at home after a West Coast road trip and struggled at the start, falling behind 14-0. The Bulls still led by 4 with 1:37 left after a Kyle Korver 3-pointer. The Hawks went ahead on an Al Horford basket with 29 seconds left, then a Rose turnover set up the clinching basket. Horford piled up 31 points and 16 rebounds.March 11 at United Center: Bulls 94, Hawks 76 Following that frustrating loss in Atlanta, the Bulls refocused and won eight in a row. In this rematch, the Bulls actually trailed by 2 points at halftime, then outscored the Hawks 24-10 in the third quarter. The lead was never in single digits during the fourth quarter. Derrick Rose hit just 2 of 11 shots in the first half, then scored 18 points in the third quarter. Rose ended up hitting 14 of 15 free throws on the way to 34 points. Carlos Boozer sat out with a sprained ankle, but the Bulls piled up a 50-28 rebound advantage behind Kurt Thomas (13) and Joakim Noah (11).March 22 at Philips Arena Bulls 114, Hawks 81The Bulls snapped a six-game losing streak in Atlanta by posting a blowout of ridiculous proportions.
