Huntley 5K set for April 23

Whether you’re an avid runner, beginner, or a first timer, the “It’s Our Little Secret” race on Saturday, April 23 will be good for everyone. They invite participants to race for a child or children for “Child Appreciation.”

The 5K (3.1 mile) race will begin at 9 a.m. an the Tomaso Sports Complex of the Talamore Community, 11950 Ackman Road in Huntley.

The course will be a flat asphalt and concrete course. Water will be available along the course. Hear split times at each mile mark.

For the one-mile route, walkers will begin at the Tomaso sign 15 minutes after the 5K begins, following Ackman Road turning onto the newly constructed asphalt recreation path through Talamore, finishing at the Tomaso Pavilion.

The Kids 50-yard dash will be for ages 12 and younger. No registration is required. All participating children will receive a prize.

After the race, food and beverages will be offered. Children can meet a police officer and fireman. An egg hunt will follow dash and a special bunny will greet children.

Event T-shirts will be given to all 5K and 1-mile registrants. Top 5K finishers in designated age groups will receive an award. Race results will be posted on It’s Our Little Secret website, www.itsourlittlesecret.org, after race.
