Men sentenced to boot camp for trying to sell fake cocaine

A Cook County judge sentenced two men to boot camp in exchange for their guilty pleas to trying to sell fake cocaine to undercover officers earlier this year near a Schaumburg park in the vicinity of Carolina Court and Savannah Lane.

Riese Arcos, 20, of Hanover Park, and Walter Thiede, 21, of Streamwood, pleaded guilty to the manufacture and distribution of a look-alike substance, a class 4 felony punishable by one to three years in prison. Authorities say both men were on probation for other offenses at the time of their January arrests for trying to sell two “eight balls” of cocaine to undercover officers for $220.
