Daley says Chicago prepared for winter storm

CHICAGO — Retiring Chicago mayor Richard Daley says the city is prepared for what forecasters predict will be a major blizzard.

Daley said Tuesday the city's tough financial condition has not caused any cutbacks in preparedness for a storm predicted to dump more than a foot of snow.

He called technology the difference between the blizzard of 1979 and this storm.

He said he wasn't worried about having to pull off major snow removal in the waning months of his administration, something that toppled another Chicago mayor and could be a footnote in Daley's legacy.

Daley said "you do your best."
