Toews’ all-star trip still on despite injury

Jonathan Toews didn’t practice Monday, but Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said the captain would be in the lineup Tuesday night against Minnesota at the United Center.

“He’ll be fine,” Quenneville said.

Toews suffered a lower-body injury in Saturday’s win at Detroit but was able to play against Philadelphia on Sunday.

Toews is scheduled to head to all-star weekend in Raleigh, N.C., on Thursday for Sunday’s All-Star Game. As of now there are no plans for him to skip it.

“I don’t think that’s on the radar,” Quenneville said. “He’ll be ready to play tomorrow and he should be fine. That’s probably not part of the discussion.”

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Monday that Sidney Crosby would miss the All-Star Game because of the concussion he suffered in the Winter Classic. Crosby, Toews and the Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin were voted All-Star Game starters.

Malkin might also miss the All-Star Game to rest an injury.

One for the road:

After facing the Wild on Tuesday night, the Hawks won’t play again for six days because of the all-star break.

Upon their return they will start a six-game road trip Feb. 1 in Columbus.

“It’s a pretty important game because you always want to go into any break feeling good about yourself and feeling good about the team,” winger Patrick Kane said. “I know we did that last time before our five-day break. Everyone should be rested after this and hopefully we can take off from there.”

The Hawks are just 3 points ahead of Minnesota in the Western Conference standings.

“It’s a very big game for us looking where they’re at and where we’re at,” Joel Quenneville said. “There’s a lot at stake and we want to make sure we max out our game and know the importance of it.”

Let’s see Leddy:

Rookie defenseman and Minnesota native Nick Leddy faces the Wild for the first time since the Wild traded him to the Hawks last season with Kim Johnsson for Cam Barker — a deal Minnesota likely would want back.

“We may mention that,” Joel Quenneville said. “He’s pretty laid-back, but I think everyone has emotions. I think everybody, when they get traded from a team, there’s added incentive and certainly you want to do your best.”

Start him up:

Corey Crawford starts again in goal. It will be Crawford’s 26th start of the season compared to 24 for Marty Turco.
