Grayslake fire under investigation

Grayslake Fire Department investigators are probing the cause of a blaze at a house in the 300 block of Banbury Lane, officials said Monday.

No injuries resulted from the fire, Batallion Chief Jim Weidman said. Damage estimates were $250,000 for the house and $70,000 to the contents inside, he added.

Smoke from the inferno could be seen about 10:30 a.m. by firefighters near the intersection of Center Street and Atkinson Road. Heavy fire was reported by the first unit on the scene.

Fire damaged the garage and a majority of the second floor of the two-story home.

Weidman said fire officials did not have a cause of the blaze and were still investigating.

Fire departments from Grayslake, Waukegan, Fox Lake, Round Lake, Wauconda and Libertyville were called to the scene. The box alarm was struck around 11:30 a.m.
