Glenbard South wins MSC title

Glenbard South clinched at least a share of the Metro Suburban championship, their first conference championship since 1998, with a 25-22, 25-22 win in Glen Ellyn.

Jane Trzaska had 8 kills and 7 digs, and Angie Briggs and Sarah Engelhardt 6 kills apiece for the Raiders (21-8, 10-1), who can win the conference outright by beating Fenton tonight. Kim Deprez added 12 digs.

Lyons Twp. d. Hinsdale Central: Jocelyn Birks had 11 kills and Alexis Viliunas 14 assists and 5 kills as the Lions (31-1, 6-0) beat Hinsdale Central 25-21, 25-23 to capture the West Suburban Silver title.

Ally Davis had 8 kills, Natalia Skiba 6 kills and 10 digs and Jamie Netisingha 13 digs for Hinsdale Central (20-9, 4-2), who missed out on a share of the school's first conference championship since 1976.

Downers Grove North d. Glenbard West: Taylor Kasal had 12 kills and 12 assists, pacing the Trojans past the Hilltoppers 25-21, 27-29, 25-19. Alexa Loufman added 5 kills and 3 blocks and Maureen Eckdahl 11 digs for Downers Grove North (13-16, 2-4 West Suburban Silver).

Naperville Central d. West Chicago: Alysia Baznik had 6 kills and 15 assists and Chloe Lupina 7 kills and 4 digs for the Redhawks, who rallied past West Chicago 13-25, 25-19, 25-22. Katie Battle added 5 kills for Naperville Central (18-16, 10-3 DuPage Valley). Julia Conard had 10 kills and 10 aces and Kathy Fletcher 11 kills and 2 blocks for West Chicago (26-4, 12-2), which dropped its fourth straight match after starting the season 26-0.

Naperville North d. Wheaton North: Ashley Crawford put down 10 kills to pace the host Huskies to a come-from-behind 22-25, 25-13, 25-20 win. Sarah Haselhorst added 8 kills, Sarah Romberg 29 assists and Madison Murphy 7 kills for Naperville North (17-13, 10-4 DVC).

St. Francis d. St. Edward: The Spartans rolled to a 25-19, 25-4 win behind Meg Vonderhaar's 6 kills. Kelly Reinke added 15 assists and Gina Madonia 7 digs for St. Francis (27-7, 10-1 Suburban Christian Blue).

Benet d. Bisho McNamara: Mary Kate Whelan had 11 kills, 6 digs and 4 aces to pace the Redwings to a 25-17, 25-14 win. Maddie Haggerty chipped in 5 kills and 3 aces for Benet (27-6, 7-1 East Suburban Catholic).
