Charmed chamber

Classical WFMT 98.7-FM adds a new weekly live show devoted to chamber music when "Live From Mayne Stage" debuts at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 19. It will feature weekly performances at the Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse Ave., in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood, starting this weekend with the Baroque Band.

Bootleggers bow

HBO looks to rough-and-tumble Atlantic City at the start of the prohibition era in 1920 as the setting for its new series "Boardwalk Empire." It stars Steve Buscemi as someone drawn into becoming a crime kingpin. Look for Al Capone to put in a quick appearance as well. "The Sopranos" writer Terence Winter created the show, and Martin Scorsese directs the pilot episode at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19.

In with the old, new

CBS tries to revive one of its classic series with a new version of "Hawaii Five-O" starring Alex O'Loughlin as Steve McGarrett and debuting at 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, on WBBM Channel 2. Oh well, it has to be better than another "CSI." Better, though, is "Mike & Molly," which tries to turn actual fat people into stars, with Billy Gardell and former "Gilmore Girls" chef Melissa McCarthy as the title characters, just before at 8:30.

'Wind' break

Christopher Guest takes his ultradry, mockumentary style and turns it toward a sendup of folk music in "A Mighty Wind." "Gleeks" should look for Jane Lynch, who turns up in a folkie quartet. It's at 9:58 p.m. Saturday (and not a moment sooner) on WTTW Channel 11.
