Case dismissed against doctor accused of making lewd remarks

McHenry County authorities dropped a criminal charge Tuesday against a prominent Crystal Lake physician, and former state legislature candidate, arrested last month on allegations he made lewd comments to a woman.

State's Attorney Louis Bianchi said his office moved in court to dismiss the misdemeanor disorderly conduct claim against Dr. Thomas Salvi, 46, because his accuser, a 27-year-old former Crystal Lake woman, said she did not want to testify or pursue her complaint.

"The victim asked us not to go ahead with the case," Bianchi said. "The crux of our case was that we needed someone to come in and testify, and she didn't want to do it."

The woman told police that on June 25 a well-dressed man driving a Cadillac pulled alongside her as she walked outside a Crystal Lake apartment building and made a sexually suggestive comment, that she ignored the remark, left in her car and later noticed the same vehicle following her.
