Lake Co. court official earns prestigious title
Winnie Weber, director of information systems for the 19th Judicial Circuit, recently joined an elite group of court administrators.
Weber completed the court executive development course offered by the National Center of State Courts and by doing so was named a fellow of the Institute of Court Management.
The intensive four-phase program requires candidates to complete courses in performance standards, case flow and technology management, and human resources.
Other course requirements include preparing a master's-level research paper on a key function of court operations and presentation of the project to a panel of evaluators.
Weber and other graduates of the program were hosted at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., that was officiated by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.
The National Center on State Courts, based in Williamsburg, Va., has bestowed the title of fellow of the Institute of Court Management on just over 1,100 court administrators.
Grant for vestsThe Lake County state's attorney's office recently received a grant to cover half the costs of the bullet-resistant vests needed for investigators.State's Attorney Michael Waller said the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs approved a grant of $2,700 for the purchase of vests.Waller said his budget calls for the purchase of 10 vests, at a total cost of $5,400, between now at Sept. 30, 2011.The other half of the funding for the vests will come from the office's asset forfeiture fund, Waller said.Fishing DerbyThe Mundelein Police Department will hold its annual Cops 'N' Bobbers Fishing Derby from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 10.The event will be held at Maurice Noll Park on Hampton Lane at Huntington Drive.The free event is open to children 13 and younger.
