Canine day care coming

The Arlington Dog House will open its canine day care and boarding kennel the second week of July in the vacant part of a building at 213. S. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights.

The building also houses Grand Frame and Karate Studio.

The dogs will always be inside the building, and there are plans to handle waste and to dampen any noise, said the owners, including Mark Leers of North Barrington. Three dog owners, including a couple that lives nearby, spoke in favor of the facility at a recent meeting of the Arlington Heights Village Board.

Board approval was needed for a land use variation and to allow a reduction in the minimum number of parking stalls from 23 to nine.

Village staff also agreed that the other businesses on the property and the nearby Enterprise Rent-a-Car, which has the same landlord, use parking spaces at different times.
