Two Wheeling restaurants fined for alcohol violations

The Wheeling village board fined two restaurants Monday for serving alcohol to minors.

Servers at the Rise N Dine Pancake House, 102 S. Milwaukee Ave., and Las Islas Marias, 784 W. Dundee Road, were caught serving alcoholic drinks to someone under 21 during a police sting in April.

What makes it worse, is that both restaurants were notified about the sting via mail in March, said Wheeling Trustee Dean Argiris.

The Islas and the Rise N Dine were fined $300 and the owner and manager of each restaurant must undergo a special alcoholic server training class.
