Library board opening:

The St. Charles Public Library District board of trustees invites interested people to apply for an opening on the library board. The term will expire in May 2011. ECC's 'Welcome Wednesdays':

Elgin Community College offers "Welcome Wednesdays" the first Wednesday of each month. The sessions include an overview of the college's programs and services, a tour and an opportunity to talk with the recruitment staff. Indian Trail work ramping up:

A traffic shift through the construction area on East Indian Trail Road in Aurora will necessitate the closing of the left turn lanes at Church Road for both eastbound and westbound traffic on Tuesday. Officials expect the turn lanes to be closed for about one month. Motorists are asked to consider alternate routes.

Pizza for charity:

California Pizza Kitchen, 1202 Commons Drive in Geneva, will contribute 20 percent of lunch and dinner sales on June 3 to benefit the Geneva Community Chest. Participants must present the flyer that is available at The community chest has a goal of raising $110,000 by Sept. 30 for distribution to about 20 agencies that provide services to Geneva residents. Blackberry Township Assessor Uwe Rotter will present a taxpayer workshop this summer to explain the property tax cycle, how assessments are developed, how to appeal an assessment, and what the Kane County Board of Review and the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board are. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. They are June 9 at the Elburn village hall, 301 E. North St.; July 14 at Tanner Trail Community Church, 2301 Tanner Road, North Aurora; Aug. 11 at Rejoice Lutheran Church, 0N377 N.
